A Class 107 DMU departs from Paisley Canal while a Class 116 sits in the sidings, October 1976. Alistair Ness.
Derby Set 149 pulls away from Paisley Canal on 13:07 Glasgow Central - Kilmacolm as passengers cross the temporary footbridge. The operational station building and footbridge was on the Causeyside Street overbridge, behind the DMU. However, this burned down and was replaced by a Portakabin on the Glasgow bound platform (visible to the left of the leading cab) adjacent to the moribund main station building. Ironically, the building survived closure as a pub / restaurant. Saturday 15 November 1980. alicia hartman.
Class 107 Paisley Canal Dec 1980. Living in Paisley at the time I took a day out one Saturday to film the Ayr (formerly Hamilton based) Derby's as we called them on the Paisley Canal line and Kilmacolm branch. Why I did this in December and not when the weather was better I'll never know! Leaving it to the last minute I suppose. Alistair Ness.

The Proclaimers 'Letters from America' may have been a few years in the future but seems apt in reference to the near derelict condition of Paisley Canal station on a cold but sunny January day a couple of years prior to closure. Hamilton based Class 116 3 car unit led by DMBS Sc50839 with the 13:07 Glasgow Central to Kilmacolm is just about to depart. 24th January 1981. Bruce Galloway.

The 14:01 Kilmacolm - Glasgow service at Paisley Canal station on December 31, 1982. The DMS closest appears to be 52023, carrying a set number of just 107 possibly due to frequent formation changes in that period. Hamish Stevenson.
101 335 (a 101/101/107 hybrid) pauses at Paisley Canal for one of the last scheduled services to Kilmacolm before the line closed on 8th Jan 1983. The land around the signal box in this photo was sold in undue haste for housing development and although the line reopened as a single track spur to Paisley Canal it is highly unlikely that it will ever reopen as the important through line it once was. Andrew McConnell.
Cravens / Derby lash up 105 376 is being readied for departure from Paisley Canal on a Glasgow Central - Kilmacolm service. An old notebook suggests this is Cravens DMBS E51493 + Derby TSL Sc59790 + Derby DMBS Sc52004. Whilst the majority of services at Canal were the hourly all station Kilmacolm services, there were a couple of services to / from Largs or Ardrossan with additional peak hour services to / from Canal. Tuesday 04 January 1983. alicia hartman.
Mixed 105 376 Cravens / Derby Set coasts into Paisley Canal with a Kilmacolm - Glasgow Central working. An old notebook suggests this is Cravens DMBS E51493 + Derby TSL Sc59790 + Derby DMBS Sc52004. Passenger services would cease the following Saturday. A Paisley Canal - Glasgow service was resurrected in 1990 albeit from a new station on the Glasgow side of Causeyside Street, to the east. The land here to the west was sold off in due haste post closure and built over. Thus the realistic prospect of the Canal line being returned as a through route was stymied. Tuesday 04 January 1983. alicia hartman.
